Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 9 September 2026

1. About these terms

These Terms & Conditions govern your use of the YOU CAN TAP platform, including our website, mobile app, NFC wristbands, and tipping service. By creating an account, using a wristband, or sending a tip, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

2. The service

YOU CAN TAP enables service professionals ("Recipients") to receive tips electronically from customers ("Tippers") through NFC wristbands and personal tipping pages. Payments are processed by our third-party payment provider. We do not hold a banking licence; funds are held in our merchant account for the sole purpose of being paid out to Recipients.

3. Accounts & eligibility

  • You must be at least 18 years old and provide accurate, complete registration details.
  • You are responsible for keeping your login credentials and app PIN secure.
  • You may only register a wallet for yourself; one wallet per person.
  • We may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms or are used fraudulently.

4. Tips & payments

  • Tips are voluntary payments from Tippers to Recipients and are not payment for goods or services.
  • All payments are processed securely by our payment provider. Card details are never stored by us.
  • A platform fee is deducted from each tip before it is credited to the Recipient's wallet. The current fee is shown on the tipping page at the time of payment and may change from time to time.

5. Wallets & payouts

  • Received tips (less the platform fee) are credited to your in-app wallet.
  • Your available balance is automatically paid out to your nominated South African bank account on a daily schedule. You are responsible for keeping your bank details accurate and complete.
  • Payouts may be delayed where bank details are missing or incorrect, where we are legally required to verify your identity, or due to circumstances beyond our control. Funds remain yours while held.
  • Wallet balances do not earn interest.

6. Refunds & disputes

Tips are generally non-refundable once paid. If a payment was made in error or fraudulently, contact us and we will review the matter. Where a refund is issued for a tip that has already been paid out, the Recipient's future balance may be adjusted to recover the amount.

7. Wristbands

  • Wristbands are linked to your account and remain our property while linked; you are responsible for their safekeeping.
  • Report a lost or stolen wristband immediately so we can disable it. You are responsible for tips sent to your wristband before it is disabled.
  • Only use wristbands issued by us. Tampering with or cloning wristbands is prohibited.

8. Acceptable use

You may not use the service for unlawful activity, money laundering, tax evasion, misleading solicitations, or to impersonate another person. You are responsible for your own tax obligations arising from tips received; we do not withhold or pay taxes on your behalf.

9. Liability

To the extent permitted by South African law, our liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the total amount of tips held in your wallet at the time of the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, including under the Consumer Protection Act.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The current version will always be available on this page with its effective date. Continued use of the service after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.

11. Governing law & contact

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Questions about these terms can be sent to johnpaulpeter01@gmail.com.
